Floral Art Inspiration: In the Golden Days by John Melhuish Strudwick (1849-1937), Friday, February 28th, 10AM-12Noon
For this last of our Victorian Art Inspiration classes, we will take our cue from John Melhuish Strudwick's In The Golden Days. The goal of these classes is to see how an artist uses an unusual palette to create the mood and overall aesthetic of his work. For this hands-on class, we will work with shades of deep green, orange, blue and white with unexpected touches of lavender and possibly ruby red to create an unexpected and stunning vase arrangement. Each participant will leave with a lush arrangement of their own making. Flowers used may include hydrangea, roses, ranunculus, fresh lavender, and dried scabiosa. No prior knowledge of art or floral design is required, we will simply have fun working through the steps together to create our Pre-Raphaelite-inspired "art."
All supplies will be provided, as will refreshments and treats from the bakery.
