Naturalistic Arranging: Winter, Wednesday, December 11th, 6-9PM
In this hands-on course with floral designer Matt Weinstein, participants will learn the fundamentals of designing a seasonally-inspired flower arrangement that is inspired by the way plants grow in natural settings. Drawing on techniques from the English decorative style and from Ikebana, the ancient Japanese art of flower arranging, participants will craft a beautiful arrangement that highlights the beauty of the winter season. Particular attention will be paid to the way that the lines of branches and other materials extend out into empty space. Participants will also learn how to take advantage of the ways that plants orient themselves towards light in order to create an arrangement that looks effortlessly sculptural. Each participant will leave with a sophisticated flower arrangement to display in their foyer, on the mantle of their fireplace, or on their social media accounts. No prior experience necessary. Vase and plant materials included. Image is from a similar class in a prior season; vase and plant materials will not be exactly the same.
Workshop is BYOB, so you are welcome to bring your favorite beverage and we will provide glassware, iced tea, and treats from the bakery.
